The Springbrook Nature Center Foundation (SNCF) is a non-profit tax exempt organization, governed by a Board of Directors, dedicated to enhancing the Springbrook Nature Center (SNC) in Fridley, Minnesota. Board members are volunteers and receive no remuneration for their time serving on the Board. Board members are selected by the current Board to serve three-year renewable terms.  The current Board members are listed.  While not being a Board member, the SNC Executive Director participates in most Board meetings.

In order to do its work, the Foundation Board has established Committees composed of both Board members and other volunteers from the community. Generally, Committees are led by Board members and meet on an as needed basis.  Meetings are often via telephone or the internet.  Michael Maher, SNC Executive Director, serves as liaison to the Board and several Committees. Physical Site

Implement improvements to land and buildings. Meets frequently.

Print Marketing & Communications

Generate newsletters; manages general communications & database management. Meets as needed.

Internet Communications

Website maintenance (tools and data); social networking & program support. Meets continuously.

Development & Fundraising

Plans and implements all fundraising activities. Meets monthly or as needed.

Springbrook Spree

Plan and implement auction/fundraiser. Meets monthly, beginning five months before the event.

Concession Stand

Plans and manages concession stand for Spring Fling and Pumpkin Night in the Park. Meets a few weeks before an event.


Oversees policy and key activities. Meets as needed.

SPRING Project

Ensures SPRING project meets Board objectives. Meets frequently and as needed.


Maintains, monitors and carries out all financial dealings. Meets monthly.


Recruits Board candidates and generate an officer slate. Meets frequently and in early spring.

Program & Educational Support

Exhibit support,  programming support & scholarship management. Meets frequently and as needed.
