Family Friendly Fun

Plan to attend!  You are welcome to enjoy an array of Family Friendly Fun events each summer at the Springbrook Nature Center (SNC).  Go to the SNC website > Programs and Events for event details.  These free Family Friendly Fun events often have an educational component to them.  The typical events include:

Saturday in the Park

Spirited music and free ice cream amid the lush forest on a warm Minnesota summer evening – it doesn’t get any better!  Kids play in the playground and families go for a hike or visit the exhibits.  The Fridley City Band (photo) performs several sets in the amphitheater, including a selection of traditional German songs.  Hundreds of ice cream cones are “dished out”, usually featuring Fridley’s own Grandpa’s Homemade Premium Ice Cream.  Typically offered in July, plan to attend.

Summer Performance Series

Free outdoor performances by talented, unique local artists – what a treat.  The line-up typically includes three Tuesday evening concerts in the amphitheater.  The bands, such as Sweet Rhubarb (photo), perform in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by a beautiful forest, blooming prairie flowers, curious wildlife, and toe-tapping audiences.  If you enjoy lively shows by gifted entertainers, plan to attend.

Friday Night by Firelight

On chairs and blankets, families enjoy Friday Night by Firelight (FNBF) shows on three successive Fridays in September.  This free, educational entertainment series usually features nature-related topics such as “Wolves, Coyotes, and Foxes” and “Teddy Roosevelt – The Wilderness Warrior” (photo).  If you enjoy a fun, educational, family atmosphere, plan to attend.

The Springbrook Nature Center Foundation (SNCF) participates in these Family Friendly Fun events each year by funding, volunteering, or both.  The excellent Springbrook Nature Center (SNC) staff does most of the organizing.  We hope to see you there!
